Shift Scheduling Agent: all 4 products
Builds the staff schedule itself, and fills the shift when somebody calls out. We found four products that do this, from four companies. Three can be bought with a sign-up form and one is sold through a sales call. Three of four publish a price. The monthly plans in US dollars run from $29 to $299.

What to know before you buy
- Most products advertised as auto-scheduling build a draft that a manager still publishes, and some contradict their own pricing page. Only 4 do the job themselves.
- Ask whether it publishes the schedule on its own and whether it fills a shift when someone calls out without you stepping in.
- Staff complaints are about the mobile app, especially notifications that do not arrive. Ask your staff to try it.
- Prices sometimes rise when AI features are added. Check what the AI plan costs, not the base plan.
More from our research
How real (from our first round of research)
In this job, what the products are called and what they do often differ, and you can check it yourself on the pricing page. Of the 13 we checked in the first round, only 3 did the whole job without a person: one publishes a fully autonomous mode where clean weeks publish without you, one an autopilot that finds a qualified replacement when somebody calls out, and one texts qualified backups and gives the shift to the first to accept. The others generate a draft a manager still publishes, and one says so outright on its own page. Seven more dropped out when we asked whether an AI was doing the work, because the shift is filled by matching who is free against who is qualified, which is a list being checked rather than a judgment. A search of the whole market added a fourth, Teambridge, which finds cover when someone calls out and confirms the replacement itself.
Watch for
Five products checked advertise auto-scheduling or smart scheduling while the schedule is still built by hand, and one of them contradicts its own pricing page in its own FAQ. No 2025 or 2026 startup was found that builds the schedule itself and publishes a price.
What reviewers raise
Staff complain about the mobile app, especially notifications that do not arrive, rather than about how the schedule gets built. Prices rising when AI features are added also comes up.
Questions to ask in the demo
- Does an AI do this, or does a rule? If the answer is “when X happens it sends Y”, you are buying automation, and it should not cost AI prices.
- Does it send, or does it draft? Ask for the sentence on their page that says it acts on its own.
- Does it do it on its own on this plan, or on the one above? The setting that lets it act without you is often a tier up from the entry price.
