Is something missing or wrong?

What to know before you buy

  • Check the product both writes the posts and publishes them. More than half of what is sold under this name is a scheduler with a caption writer attached.
  • “Autopilot” on the front page does not always match the feature list. Look for approval steps in the product’s own description.
  • The complaint that matters most in reviews is posts failing to publish or the queue stalling. Check your accounts in the first weeks.
  • Check what each platform allows. One customer describes a large platform nearly shutting down several of his pages over automated posting.
  • All 9 can be bought with a sign-up form, from $14 to $79 a month.
More from our research

How real (from our first round of research)

More than half of what this job is called on the open market is a scheduler with a caption generator attached, and testing both halves removes a lot of well-known names. The products on the map are the ones whose own page says the product both writes the content and puts it out: a published per-day auto-post limit, filling the calendar months ahead and publishing everywhere, setting up once and posting automatically. One well-known vendor was left out because its own page says nothing publishes without explicit approval.

Watch for

The word autopilot on the front page often does not match the feature list behind it. One vendor uses it about the goal of the free trial while the product page says plan, review and publish, and another’s automation line describes a week of posts made, approved and published for you, with approval still inside the sentence.

What reviewers raise

Posts failing to publish, or the posting queue stalling, is the complaint that matters most here, and it does come up. Billing, including charges before a trial ended, is the other theme.

Worth knowing

One new entrant advertises 1,200 videos a month per agent at $0.10 a video, and setting up hundreds of accounts automatically. On another product’s review page, one customer describes a large platform coming close to shutting down several of his pages over automated posting. Before you turn a posting agent on, check what the platform you post to allows.

Questions to ask in the demo

  1. Does an AI do this, or does a rule? If the answer is “when X happens it sends Y”, you are buying automation, and it should not cost AI prices.
  2. Does it send, or does it draft? Ask for the sentence on their page that says it acts on its own.
  3. Does it do it on its own on this plan, or on the one above? The setting that lets it act without you is often a tier up from the entry price.
