What to know before you buy
- Every product here can post replies on its own, but writing you a draft to approve is usually the default. Check that posting on its own is switched on.
- That setting is often on the plan above the entry price, at $9.99 a month in one case. Price the plan that posts, not the one that drafts.
- Low-star reviews are usually held for you: 4 and 5 star reviews are answered automatically, 1 to 3 star ones wait. Decide whether you want it to answer the hard ones too.
- “Automatic” can mean within minutes, within 24 hours or once each morning. Ask how soon a reply actually appears.
- Entry plans often cap replies each month. Count your reviews across every location before you choose a plan.
More from our research
How real (from our first round of research)
All 14 we checked carry a published auto-post or auto-respond setting, and several name it as a distinct product mode: one calls the tier Autopilot, one calls it Auto-Approve, one describes fully automating publishing for eligible reviews, and one writes that it posts on its own or holds for approval, your choice. Many products marketed in this language turned out to write you a draft and nothing more, and were left out.
Watch for
Writing you a draft to approve is usually the default, and the switch that lets it post on its own is often on the tier above the entry price, at $9.99 a month in one case. Sorting by star rating is the standard design rather than an exception, and vendors publish it: 4 and 5 star reviews are answered automatically, 1 to 3 star ones are held for you, so if you expected the hard replies to be handled, they are not by default. How soon the reply actually appears varies widely among vendors who all call it automatic: within minutes, within 24 hours, or written in a batch each morning. The lowest published tier frequently caps replies by volume.
Worth knowing
Every one of the newer companies writes copy defending against the complaint that AI replies sound generic.
Questions to ask in the demo
- Does an AI do this, or does a rule? If the answer is “when X happens it sends Y”, you are buying automation, and it should not cost AI prices.
- Does it send, or does it draft? Ask for the sentence on their page that says it acts on its own.
- Does it do it on its own on this plan, or on the one above? The setting that lets it act without you is often a tier up from the entry price.
